Youth Tent at the Coronado Flower Show

Calling All Young Floral Enthusiasts, Creatives and Green Thumbs to the Cirque de Fleurs. The Coronado Junior Woman’s Club invites youth to participate in the Coronado Flower Show at Spreckels Park! This exciting event offers a chance for children to showcase their creativity in the Flower Show Youth Section. Open to all children from Pre-K through 8th grade, the event features categories such as creating picture plates with seeds or beans, growing plants, designing flower arrangements, and turning fresh fruits into animal artwork (Zoo's Whos). All entries will be displayed at the show and entered into a contest for awards.

Entry Submission: Friday, April 11 from 4 - 6 PM and Saturday, April 12 from 7 - 9 AM
Show Dates: Saturday, April 12 from 1 - 5 PM and Sunday, April 13 from 10 AM - 4 PM

About the Event
Since 1922… The Coronado Flower Show is a floral tradition that unites a town. For nine decades, our history in the island community of Coronado has followed its spring tradition of refurbishing gardens throughout the town and staging Southern California’s premier flower show. The Coronado Flower Show features a celebrated Youth Division, hosted and staffed every spring by the Coronado Junior Woman’s Club. This year, we welcome young exhibitors and visitors alike to partake in “A Floral Fairground.”
Categories
The Youth Division is open to individuals grades eight and under with classes organized by grade groups. This year, youth are invited to enter as an exhibitor in the following categories:

(Section A) Picture Plates: Create a floral design on a paper plate using fresh or dried plant materials. Emphasis is on creativity and use of color.

(Section B) Zoo’s Whos: Craft an animal figure using fruits, vegetables, and/or plant materials.

(Section C) Growing Plants: Grow and exhibit a plant you have nurtured. Judging focuses on the health and vigor of the plant.

(Section D) Flower Arrangements: Create a floral arrangement using fresh flowers and foliage. Designs can reflect the "Cirque de Fleurs" theme.

(Section E) Miniature Arrangements: Design a miniature floral arrangement not exceeding 5 inches in any dimension. Emphasis is on scale and proportion. Designs can reflect the "Cirque de Fleurs" theme.
*Prizes and Recognition
🎉 Winners in each category will receive ribbons, certificates, and recognition at the awards ceremony! All participants will be celebrated for their creativity and effort.
Prepare Your Exhibit: Follow the rules for the section you are entering. Reference the official Show Schedule.
Submit Your Entry: Bring your completed project to Spreckels Park during the designated submission times. The Coronado Junior Woman’s Club will assist with creating an official entry card.

Eligibility: The Youth Division is open to individuals grades eight and under with classes organized by grade groups.
Original Work: All entries must be the work of the youth exhibitor.
Material Use: Use fresh, dried, or preserved plant materials unless specified otherwise.
Entry Limit: Each participant may enter one exhibit per category.
Judging Criteria: Creativity, originality, use of materials, adherence to the theme, and craftsmanship.

Yes, exhibitors may submit one entry for each category in their age group.

No fees to register entries or participate!

Awards presentation is at 3pm Sunday, April 13th. Please pick-up entries and awards between 4pm - 4:30pm on Sunday. Entries/Awards must be left on display until 3:45pm on Sunday. Entries that are not picked up by 4:30pm on Sunday will be discarded.

Register entries in the Youth Section on Friday, from 4 to 6 pm or Saturday, from 7 to 9:30 am. Additional and nonconforming entries may be displayed on the exhibition table in the Youth Section.
